The Pontiac Astre was a compact car produced by General Motors under the Pontiac brand from 1975 to 1977. It was essentially a rebadged version of the Chevrolet Vega, sharing the same platform and many of the same components.
The Astre was available in several body styles, including a two-door coupe, hatchback, and wagon. It was offered with a range of engines, including a 140 cubic inch inline-four and a 151 cubic inch inline-four.
Despite its relatively short production run, the Pontiac Astre managed to attract a small but loyal following of fans. However, it was ultimately phased out in 1977 due to declining sales and the overall poor reputation of the Vega platform.
Today, the Pontiac Astre and its Chevrolet Vega sibling are considered rare collectibles, with enthusiasts seeking out well-preserved examples for restoration and customization.
